I believe academics have a responsibility to be socially engaged. We have a responsibility to educate and be educated by the societies we live in and the societies we study. To this end, I have made it a priority to make my own writing as accessible as possible, both in a theoretical and practical sense. My analyses thus appear not only in scholarly journals and books but also in the popular and mass media.
On this page I have collected a sampling of these texts and media appearances, as well as articles in which I am cited as a regional analyst, appearing (in the case of the latter) in chronological order by date of publication. I hope this collection will be of use for all those interested in debates about democratization in the Balkans and those interested in tracing the trajectories of my thinking about these issues. Also, I hope that this page will be useful to journalists and media representatives wishing to get a sense of my expertise and the sorts of commentary I have provided on previous occasions.
Selections from my academic publishing can be found on my Academia.edu profile.
